Giveaway and product review: Gourmet giraffe from Sarita Baby
15th September 2009
Sara from Sarita Baby actually calls these taggy giraffes, but I like gourmet better. Because this is one beautiful, handmade, funky fabric-encased stuffed toy.
Here is our Gigi helping me work today. I boldly emailed Sara and asked her to send me one to review, because I’ve coveted them for ages at various shows she’s been at — and had to show them off to you. Gigi the giraffe is for my girls, of course. Of course.
Do you see the sweet fabric? The clever use of ribbon for the mane and tail, which double as sensory pieces, loops and handles? They are the perfect size to snuggle with, and adorable to adorn a crib or bed of any age child.
Sara is a work-at-home-mom in Oshawa who sews while her two kids sleep, in the sewing room her “wonderful husband was so generous to make” for her. Her funky baby accessories — including bibs, blankets, change pads and tooth fairy door hangers — are made with designer fabrics.
Check out Sara’s etsy site to find the three Durham Region stores you can purchase these giraffes at, for just around $20. Or, you can buy off the etsy site, or email Sara for a custom order at sb13sarita@yahoo.ca.
Want to win your own giraffe? (For your kid(s). Of course.) We’ve got a gorgeous green one that needs a warm spot in a Durham Region Baby reader’s house. To win, take a spin through Sara’s store, then leave a comment here with your favourite Sarita Baby creation. We’ll draw a winner on Thursday!

Gorgeous stuff. I love the sock monkey bib. I have a new great nephew on the way. That would be such a good gift.
I love the farmer’s market blanket. That apples and pears material is beautiful.
I have seen them first hand in The Cuddly Bunny Store in Port Perry. The owner Marnie has stated that the customers LOVE them and how well they sell. Sara – just wait until Marnie’s new store opens on the main drag come October 2nd. You will be famous. Now I just need to have another baby so I can buy one.
I love the lime guitars tooth fairy pocket hanger…Two reasons: I had a little bear when I was a girl to put my teeth in overnight, so it reminds me of that. And my little boy is going to be playing guitar before he walks if his Daddy has anything to do with it.
I have to agree with Christy about the sock monkey bib. It totally rocks. I will have to get one for my niece because her daddy is wild about sock monkeys.
I love the giraffe… Carmen loves anything with tags, and it is perfect for little hands…
Aww thanks guys
The giraffe is my favorite as well – my son LOVED tags and ribbons on his toys. Great idea.

I love the sock monkey baby bib. Cute!
I agree with the sock monkey bib, totally cute! We call Brodyn “Monk” short for monkey. And the giraffe is awesome! Myla LOVES her taggie blankie, and she has a necklace that has giraffes all over it I got at the Dollarama that she loves, two of her favourites combined into one!
I love the pacifier clips! They are made from hip patterns and are very stylish. We dress our daughter in adorable outfits and I have been looking for soother clips that are just as fashionable. The only ones I have been able to find have plain ribbons, velcro and this huge clip with a cartoon character on the end which I just hate.
I’m lovin’ the sock monkey bib too! Makes me smile, so I’m sure it would have the same effect on little ones! Yay Sarita Baby!
I LOVE the sock monkey bib – can you say christmas presents?? I am SO ordering a couple of those for friends.
I love the Sock Monkey Loopy Lovey Security Blankie. It incorporates all the best parts of childhood – sock monkeys, tags to hold, polks dots and more!
I love the sock monkey bib and the Raspberry earflap hat. Too cute.
All the items are so colorful and cute, I especially like the apples and pears gift set. Its so pretty and would be perfect for my friend’s baby daughter.
I love the sock monkey “loopy” blanket. My son loves to stick his fingers through buttonholes, holes in shoes, laces on sneakers, etc etc etc – that would be a perfect thing…
Sarita baby looks like a great shop – and Bearly Used Kids Clothes is just around the corner from us – I’ll have to keep my eyes open for her wonderful products!
totally in love with the apple and pear designs…

My fave is the Sock Monkey Loopy Lovey Security Blankie. The patchwork look of the blankie and the colorful pattern on the reverse side. Plus my daughter always plays with the labels/tags on her bibs, clothing and toys, etc. These handmade items are adorable!
I was just in Baby Go Round in Bowmanville and saw all the bibs!! My favourite on the website was the Mod Chocolate Dots, but the sock monkey was so cute too!!
I love the bibs, they are so colourful, and would hide any crazy messes the kids can make!!
If for the name alone I like the Ginger Blossom Patch Quilt Minky Blanket! It’s beautiful!
I love the taggie giraffe!!! My new little one would love it! She is just starting to grab things with her little fingers. I also love the sock monkey bib!! My other daughter would love it!! She is our “little monkeey” Everything is just gorgeous!!

I really like everything they offer, but I do have the pacifer clip and love, love, love it!! I love Giraffes so of course the giraffe would be just great for my little girl, my son had a giraffe theme when he was a baby, and still likes his stuffed giraffe.

I love the tooth pillow with guitars…having a boy I love when I see great items for them that you can’t usually find. To this day I have only ever seen frilly, lacey ones.
I the pacifier clips. They are all very fun looking, especially the Lime Dots one! And suspender clip is a great idea. I would definately order these if they fit my son’s sucky but he uses a different kind that doesnt have a ring so I’m stuck with ones I am constantly mending. The giraffes are so addorable it would be neat to see other animals too. Just like Nicole and Karen my lil guy is a monkey too and I would definately order a monkey.
I absolutely LOVE the mod dots diaper/change pad. It totally beats the boring white ones that I have!
I really like the tooth fairy pillow. I had one as a child and it brings back great memories!
I also like the pacifier clips – great idea!
