Life, lately…
3rd August 2009
…is flying by in the blur known as summer. I’ve blinked and it’s August. Anyone else feel this way?
We have been busy playing and crafting and splashing and crawling and crying and giggling. Depending on the hour of each day, I am either incredibly thankful or tearful there are five weeks until the end of summer.
What have you been up to?
- Yes, that is my eldest daughter running, half nekkid, with a plastic bucket of dog food in her hands. Welcome to 5 p.m. at Chez McDougall-Foster, when anything goes while (desperately) waiting for Eric to come home.
- Boonies (straw)Berry Freezer Jam. We’re on our third jar in three weeks.
- Every wonder what three years of toddler eating in a carseat looks like? Blek!
- So. much. snot. This weekend we welcomed rivers of drool as Alice’s eye teeth began bursting into the world.
- We call this the poop mover: Multigrain cereal, bran & prunes, mixed with prune juice and water. Constipation = solved.
- “Can I bring Pearl to show & tell day at camp?”
- Praise thee, watermelon. Today she climed a step in the morning, and onto the concrete fireplace hearth in the afternoon.
- Fresh strawberries, strawberry coffee cake from our farmer’s market, and sweet tea on my beautifully sunny front porch. Thanks for the excuse to have a treat, Christy!

Yes, summer is flying by. Eric starts school this fall. I have mixed emotions – I know he will love it and I am excited for him, but my baby starts school this fall!
Love the nekkid bum shot, thanks, I need that … We had a lousy weekend. The entire year can’t fly by fast enough for me …
Love the pictures of summer fun! And thank you for the great visit and goodies!
I too don’t know where the summer went (is going…). My little guy is 18 1/2 months so its the first summer of real play for us and it feels like it has only been a blink of an eye! The only upside I guess is that this will be his first winter of real playing outside too – so I am looking forward to that.
