No longer needed

13th July 2009

Lucy told me she was getting ready for nap by herself.

I was told to “Get out please, Mama.” So I did, watching from our bedroom door.

She then put on her pull-up, turned on her music, crawled into bed, and pulled the covers up around her.

And I died a little inside.

Until she called me back to dance and snarf.

Guess she’ll keep me around for a little bit yet…

I know the feeling. Jaxson’s new saying to pretty much anything I can help him with is “me do it by myself Mommy, I big boy”. They grow to fast!!!

Sweet girl and sad Mommy (((HUGS))) to you. It doesn’t get any easier either! A mix of feeling so proud and feeling so sad at all once.

Aaahh yes. We too have arrived at this stage. I find this stage really hard and have to prepare a little in advance for those times she wants to do it all herself cuz if I dont then we be late. :)

Awww… so sweet! I wish Eric would put himself to bed! Suddenly when it’s time to get ready for bed (aka pee & brush teeth) he says he can’t move his legs, wants to be carried, etc.

While there is a part of me that can completely relate there is a HUGE part of me that is so envious. Isaac will 5 in 2 months and isn’t anywhere close to that…he needs us to lay down with him in order to fall asleep. He’s only starting dressing himself in the last three months. I wonder how old he’ll be when he gets to Lucy’s level of bedtime independence… 10? Gawd I hope this doesn’t mean I have a Mama’s boy in the making ’cause my future-DIL is so going to hate me!
