The Best Parenting Advice You Never Wanted But Received Anyways Contest: The winner!

24th October 2008

Advice logo_1.jpgAlicia from Ajax wins!

Here’s what our celebrity judge, parenting guru Ann Douglas, had to say about why she chose Alicia’s entry:
“I picked this one as the best entry because Alicia did such a great job of explaining why the advice didn’t work for her and how she was able to trust her own instincts as a mom. That’s what motherhood is about, after all.”

The winning entry was:
“One of my husband’s coworker suggested to leave our baby cry for hours and hours, every day, at the same time, until he falls asleep on his own. This is while music plays throughout the house — as loud as you can stand it — so you can’t hear the baby cry. I’m sorry, but that’s just plain cruel. I’d rather rock him to sleep, even if I’m exhausted at the end of the day. Would not miss that special mommy and baby time for anything in the world…”

AWWW.jpgAlicia wins the $100 gift certificate from Cobourg’s A Way With Words. Can’t wait to see what funky vinyl wall piece she ends up with. Everyone else who entered also gets 20% off any order from the store.

Congrats, Alicia!

And thanks to everyone who took the time to enter, plus A Way With Words and Ann for the prize donation and judging, respectively! I’m always flattered and incredibly grateful (and y’all should be, too) when people offer up their business and time for this great community of moms…

Congratulations Alicia. That was truly a weird piece of advice.
