Life, lately
29th February 2008
- Don’t tell Eric, but today for lunch Lucy and I went for Chinese food. It was delicious. After a freezing cold trip to the grocery store where I resisted many bags of chips and the coconut chocolate bar Lucy chucked in the cart, I felt we earned it. I gave our server an extra tip for the bajillion bits of rice scattered, oh, everywhere. But for the third time, I ordered a vegetarian spring roll, and it had meat in it. I sent it back, the cook made a new one, handed it to me while saying “vegetable” and again it had meat. Grrrr.
- Holy shit, my daughter is 2
- Tomorrow Jen O. and I are having a joint Lucy-Eirinn birthday party at a local play centre. While we have enjoyed every second of planning this little soiree (do you know how many emails it takes to sort out what type of sandwiches to make? Plus a few more to decide how to cut them?) holycrap it’s exhausting planning two parties two weekends in a row. Whose idea was that? But Lucy is already talking about play-play-playing with Eirinn and Pearl and Jackson and Brandan and Alexandria and
Nate, so it’s totally worth it. Apparently they are all getting “big hugs,” too. - Did you get the newsletter? Oh, it felt so good to get that out. For about 12 hours, when I have the courage to go look at it again and see the bleary-eyed mistakes. I think I need me an editor. But I have to say, I’m so proud of it! And I just love hearing from all of you after. It really makes this mostly non-paying gig worth it, knowing I’m not spewing into a giant internet vortex (it also counter acts the people who opt-out *sniff-sniff*)
- Is anyone going to the Welcome Wagon show this weekend?
- Speaking of shows, we’re having a contest this spring to win free tickets to the Mamas and Chicks Show in Oshawa in early April. Stay tuned.
- Also, Monday is the launch of the Bribery Photo Contest. There’s $800 in prizes to be won! I know, I can’t believe it either. And I’m totally jealous of all of you who have a chance to win, because I WANT them.
- I’m off to enjoy the rest of Lucy’s nap. Enjoy means laze on the couch reading. Best afternoon ever.
- Have a great weekend!

Your meat-ful vegetarian spring roll reminds me of that scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding when Andrea Martin tells the vegetarian that she’ll make lamb. Did you see it? If not, that probably didn’t make much sense.
I’ll be your editor. Oh, wait. Aren’t I already? Should I be getting paid?
For a moment I was like, I’m invited to play with Lucy?
Then I realised I am not, in fact, the only Alexandria in the world.
