Happy Love Day

14th February 2008

Lucy and I came down for breakfast this morning and found allll this on the kitchen table:

Day 14: 29 Days of the Everyday

Eric discovered the Sandylion Sticker warehouse near his work, and spoiled his two sticker-crazed ladies for Valentine’s Day. What a treat.

(For all you fellow sticker-a-holics and scrapbookers, Eric says you will go absolutely nutty there. They even threw in free stickers at the check-out!)

Lucy immediately started trying to open the Dora stickers, which I managed to save for actual paper instead of clothing. But I wasn’t spared: I left the house in a hoodie covered in tiny pink hearts and shiny metallic bugs.

A walking bag of love, I am.

Eric gets his gift tonight. Don’t get all excited: It’s workout night. I just have to finish his present I can give it to him after work.

Do you have anything special planned? Or are you refusing to acknowledge this commercialized, Hallmark Holiday?

Oh wow … a sticker store. I guess my DollarStore stickers will be pale in comparison. hehe

Oh, btw, Lucy just called me … with a little help from her Nana. Mom says there are stickers all over her place too.

Wow, that’s a lot of adhesive.

Nothing for V day around here. A card, maybe a peck on the cheek. Nothing special.

No V day for us either… thank goodness we both feel the same way. It would be sad if one of us wanted to celebrate and the other didn’t care!

Today is a bad day. I’m feeling very angry that hubby didn’t leave out a little note or a card or something. Right from the beginning of our marriage we decided that we wouldn’t make Valentines Day a big deal so I have NO right to be mad. haha. I just am. Maybe I’m more of a girl at heart than I thought. At least he put the coffee on for me this morning.

Nothing very special around here either. Just buying food tonight instead of cooking. A card and kisses to all my boys.

OMG!!! I remember the Sandy Lion sticker warehouse. When I was a kid they had these “secret” grab bags of stickers which you purhased and you didn’t know what was in them until you opened them up at home. I think they were $1 or $2. It was insane!

I got “gourmet” jelly beans and a card this morning on the kitchen table. I am going to make my husband a heart shaped pizza for dinner (cue the ahhhhhh).

I think that going out of your way and spending way too much on this hallmark holiday is ridiculous, but a small token is nice.

Grandma still sends her daughter and husband a valentine card every year as she does to all her relatives. It is funny how much I look forward to her cards every year (birthday, valentine, easter, thanksgiving, christmas)and the odd one thrown in just because. Nothing special happening here.

Nothing special here today but that’s to be expected – no spouse. However, my daughter, whom I saw on Tuesday, bought me season 2 of one of my favourite TV shows – Babylon 5. I bought her a new pair of warm mitts, a necessity for trucking to and from classes at university.

I ended up getting us tickets to see the Agatha Christie play at Whitby Courthouse Theatre. A treat — but not “Valentine’s” per se. Not a huge fan of this “Hallmark” sponsered day — but it’s still nice to go out!!

Ooooh! I love the Sandylion warehouse store!

Ed and I had Valentine’s a day early. We had a lovely dinner out last night at a restaurant in Unionville while my niece watched the kids.

We never go crazy with Valentine’s gifts. Our engagement anniversary is next week, so we tend to celebrate it more. I did get Ed a card, and a small gift. I got the kids each a book.

Typically Valentine’s Day isn’t a big deal in our house, although I have to admit sometimes my hubby surprises me with something special and minimal gets a card and some form of chocolate. This year he topped himself and absolutely made my day. This morning I found a gift bag stuffed with chocolately goodies, a card AND my engagement ring! My ring has been out of commission and in need of a little fix-up since last May, yes that’s right, almost a year! So it’s been sitting on my dresser collecting dust. Well he surprised me and had it fixed and all polished up and it looks just like it did the day I received it, six years ago. Ahhhhh, I am totally smitten again and giddy with excitement.

We celebrated on the weekend with a trip to Niagara Falls, a romantic dinner overlooking the falls and blew some cash at the Casino! Getting away sans kiddies was a much needed vacation!!
So, last night it was just dinner out so I didn’t have to cook, and a lovely card and 3 of my favourite Gerbera Daisies all arranged with a lovely big bow.
3 symbolizing from my ’3′ boys!
    everybody now… ‘awwwwwwwwwwwww’
