Snip snip

4th July 2007

hair_before.jpghair_before_2.jpgLucy’s hair is a bit of an anomaly so far. We were expecting a dark haired baby, as both Eric and I (and most of our families) have very dark brown locks (I’m even borderline black). But Eric’s brother’s hair is dirty blond, and my sister’s is a lighter brown.

So far (I say this because many baby’s hair lightens or darkens as they age), Lucy’s hair is a light-ish brown with some coppery tones. She has Eric’s dipping hair line at the front (along with my father’s hard side part) and my fudged up one at the back, and a mix of everyone’s in texture — fine, straight and curly at the back.hair_3.jpg

I hesitated even contemplating cutting it, but it was growing into quite the mullet (and although Lucy might hair_1.jpghave some redneck genes floating around from my crazy father, it’s not like we have to advertise that fact). And after chatting with my stylist, I agreed that a trim would stimulate it to grow quicker and more evenly.

Not surprisingly, Miss Adaptable was great at the salon. The firetruck helped immensely — Lucy has a car at my parents’ and adores it. She sat right in and started “driving” and “shifting gears” (my girl will be a stick hair_2.jpgshift driver, thank you).

She wanted nothing to do with the plastic gown, so we skipped that. And aside from some suspicion when herhair_4.jpg hair was sprayed with water, Lucy was great. Quiet (usual with new people), but happy.

Now, she looks like such a little girl. I wasn’t prepared for that… But am very glad we did the snip-snip. Great for her to get used to it, too, if she’s doing to be anything like me and love switching up hair styles and going to the salon…

awww…how cute she looks with her new do :) Though she looked cute before ;)

Kylie has the same mix of curly stuff in the back that Lucy has, though Kylie’s is all around her head. Certainly makes for some interesting hair styles and wild bedhead in the mornings! I’d love to see her get a more structured haircut but her parents seem ok with keeping her bangs out of her eyes and trying to let the rest do its thing.

Aaawww so cute !!! Yes do tell where you went…I have a hard time getting Ava to stand anyone approaching her with regular hands let alone scissors and the fire truck might prove to be just the distraction we need :)

Smart decision on the snip snip Momma !

Amy: the pictures look like the Little Tots place I took my daughter, it’s in the Mandarin Plaza on Kingston Rd.

Little Tots Hair Shop – 905-428-3484
    1725 Kingston Road, Pickering, ON L1V 4L9

they have a ball room and some toys the kids can play with after their cut, plus you can buy accessories like clips and ponytail holders etc. I recommend this place.

    Sound about right, Carly? ;-)

Actually, it’s just the place around the corner from us, called Split Ends (905 619-0524). They have one chair with the fire truck.

Neat there’s a place just for kids! Will keep it in mind. Thanks for the tip, Kelly.
