I didn’t have time to cover her eyes

9th November 2006

Last night, during dinner.

I’m showing Eric some of the signs we learned in class on Tuesday. One of them is "please", making a circle with your hand flat across your chest (not to be confused with "yummy" which is the same motion across the belly).

"So, you can do, ‘Please can I have more milk’," I said, doing the sign for more (fingertips all together on both hands, bumping together) and milk (like milking a cow with one hand god, I know don’t I already feel like a lactating farm animal) to Lucy in her booster seat.

Eric leans across the table, and does the please sign across my breasts with a squeeze.

"Could it mean, ‘Please can I grab your boobie?’"
