Busted
10th October 2005
On Saturday night, we decided to take Sir Spencer for a walk along the lake. But first we needed liquid reinforcements.
(A quick disclaimer: normally a lover of salty foods, I’ve been craving sweet stuff like crazy the past few weeks. Especially muffins and pastries. So bad.)
I popped into Tim’s to grab us a coffee and tea, and Spencer a plain Timbit (he actually carries the little bag and rips it open. Very entertaining). While placing the dog’s order, I decided to get one — just ONE — honey cruller Timbit for myself.
After paying, I popped it into my mouth, only to turn my head and see that Eric had moved the car — and was looking directly at me mid-chew through the window.
His jaw dropped, and he started pointing at me. I burst out laughing, almost spraying the counter with my illicit little treat. I was so caught.
Laughing the rest of the night, I had to confess to a few other secret feedings. Last week I had McDonald’s for breakfast at work, and pretty early on in the pregnancy I had fries and a diet Coke as a mid-afternoon snack. And sometimes I get a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese with my morning tea after already eating a bowl of cereal at home.
I interviewed a woman recently who said when she was pregnant, she used to stop on the way home from work and eat a cheeseburger before dinner. I’m not THAT bad, although I admire her craftiness.
Of course, this is alllll for the baby, right? Yes.

Total ‘girl’ symptoms. I ate like I had PMS through my pregnancy with my daughter. A friend, who had three boys then a girl, called one morning whilst knocked up with the girl, and admitted to eating Easter Creme Eggs for breakfast. Three of them. And she’s normally an incredibly healthy eater.
So, yes. It’s for the baby. No question.
I stumbled upon your BLOG recently and read your posts. They almost sound identical to what my wife and myself are going through.
My wife is now approx 16 weeks according to the little paper calculator provided to us. My original BLOG was apparently off by almost a month.
What I got out of this was that your fiancee (I think) just turned 30, as did I. You are 26, so you would be born in 1979, the same as my wife, you are pregnant, so is my wife. You live somewhere in the Durham Region…coincidently, so do we.
I am not really posting for any particular reason, just that everything you posted sounds like our everyday life, minus, Spencer.
My wife craves dill pickles, and I am not sure what she is eating when I’m not around. She may be stopping on her way home from work as well, but I don’t know. She eats Cereal every morning because she doesn’t like milk that much, and usually has 2-3 glasss of chocolate milk a day.
We don’t know the sex of our baby, nor do we want to know. Hopefully nothing slips out during the next ultrasound….if you know what I mean. I myslef am an expert at the ultrasound pictures as well (NOT!). I’ll pretend I am most likely.
Anyway, how far along are you? I didn’t notice it stated in any of your posts.
Take Care.
Dave
